A Welsh legend who coached Hawks

Robert Angus Ackerman

This week as we prepare to face the Welsh we can recall a famous Welshman who helped Hawks to prepare

Rob Ackerman of London Welsh ,Newport ,Wales and the British and Irish Lions was assistant coach to Peter Wright. In 2003-05 .
Ackerman, who replaced Jim Barrie as backs coach at Old Anniesland, earned 22 caps for Wales and made ten Lions appearances during the 1983 tour of New Zealand, and is a very highly-regarded figure in the British rugby community

Rob also played League for Whitehaven being their record signing having previously played for Leeds and Salford
During his stay in Glasgow he was on the staff at Glasgow Academy

A few years later he returned to Anniesland with the Christ College team from New Zealand and they played the Hawks Development XV
