ACCIES WIN THE ARRAN 7’s

Stewart Gray took a team to compete in the Arran seven aside tournament, on Saturday 15th of April. He was joined by a good representation of the 1st and 2nd XV squads.
We had a reporter in Arran, one Gordon Wilson, Laird of Blackwaterfoot and Captain of Shiskin Golf Club! So thanks to him I can report a successful day was had by all. It was clear from the start that Accies had travelled with a team which was full of real quality and had experienced head of Craig Wright, the manager, to keep the boys focused on the job at hand.
In Ross Cowan and Fraser Wilson they had two of the fastest players in the tournament, always a key element in the shortened format. The powerful forwards included Ruaridh Wilson, ‘PJ’ Rankin and Hugh Lindsay, a formidable trio at any level and with Ferg Matheson, Chris Rhodes and Greg Haran adding something special to the backs. This was all orchestrated by Stewart Gray, who has had a formidable season! This blend of youth and experience gave Accies the edge on the other teams in the completion, and throughout the early rounds it was clear that it would take a very good side to prevent Accies from picking up the trophy.
The final was against Garnock, who have had a very successful season in West 1, however Accies dominated the final and showed just why this has been such a successful season, with superb passing, handling and support in numbers. They won the final with 5 tries to 1 and were clearly a class act!
Gordon reported that the attitude and application, that has been demonstrated this season, as well as the enthusiasm, was clear for all to see. I hope you enjoy the attached photos of the day.

Congratulations!
