The Glasgow-Edinburgh rivalry will be sparked on Monday as the two sides go head-to-head in an 'A' fixture at Stirling County's Bridgehaugh Park.

The match will kick-off at 5pm and entry is free.

The Warriors 'A' team, which will be led by assistant coach Kenny Murray, with help from Ayr's Calum Forrester, could feature some players who are on their way back from injury.

Selected players identified by Glasgow's four draft clubs - Ayr, Currie, Glasgow Hawks and Stirling County - along with the Warriors' coaches, are also in line to feature in the match, as well as those aligned to Glasgow as part of the Scottish Rugby Elite Development Programme.

Further information regarding future 'A' games will be announced in due course.

Kenny Murray, who joined the Warriors at the start of last season said: "I'm looking forward to our first 'A' fixture on Monday against Edinburgh Rugby.

"It's an excellent opportunity for a number of our players with different circumstances to get some game time early in the new season.

"We have some players coming back from injury and this is also a great platform for our Elite Development Players.

"We're expecting a very tough test against Edinburgh and this is a fantastic initiative by Scottish Rugby."

Edinburgh Rugby head coach Alan Solomons endorsed the benefit of the fixture and said: "These fixtures facilitate the development of our young players by enabling them to play competitively at a level just below the pro teams."
