Polish Internationalist Craig Bachurzewski is in the Edinburgh squad.

Following last Friday’s win over Romania at the Greenyards, Edinburgh’ pre-season preparations continue with a friendly against Ulster tomorrow (Friday 27 August, kick-off 6.30pm).

The action moves back into the capital with Goldenacre, home of member club Heriot’s FC, the venue for the fixture.

Over thirty players will have the opportunity for game time, building on last week’s fixture when 28 players played their part in the win, including hat-trick scoring man of the match, Roddy Grant who leads the team out again tomorrow.

Reflecting on the Romania match head coach Alan Solomons said: “I’m happy with the fact we got the result last week because success generates confidence but we were pretty rusty. What was important was that we were physically tested and were able to give everyone game time.

“These friendlies are about focussing on your home game and I’ve no doubt that Ulster, a club we all know well, will provide a stiff test, preparing us for the competitive season.

“That’s exactly what we need as we gear up for our match against Leinster next Friday.”

The backs feature two changes from last week with Otulea Katoa making his first start, on the left wing, and Tom Brown moving to right wing. Nick McLennan retains the full back berth, along with the centre pairing of Chris Dean and Andries Strauss, Phil Burleigh and Nathan Fowles maintaining their fly-half partnership.

Meanwhile the pack is unchanged with Grant Shiells at loosehead, John Andress at tighthead and Neil Cochrane at hooker. Anton Bresler and Fraser McKenzie pull on the numbers 4 and 5 jersey respectively while Jamie Ritchie stays at blindside, captain Grant is at openside and Cornell Du Preez is no 8.

With a number of players on Scotland squad duty – and winger Will Helu with the Tonga squad – a number of new faces come on to the bench, including Biggar prop Craig Bachurzewski, who impressed while training with the club during pre-season.
