Although a Kings victory over Munster in South Africa would tie up top spot in Conference A for the Warriors it is likely they will have to beat Connacht at Scotstoun next Friday night.

Glasgow struggled to really find their groove at Parc y Scarlets and the opening exchanges were a real arm wrestle. The scoreboard still blank with a quarter of the game played.

Sam Johnson shot out of the line to hammer his man in defence in an early sign of intent, but the home side soon took control of the fixture, kicking behind the Glasgow defence at every opportunity.

Finn Russell was off target with two penalty attempts that would have given his side the lead the second hitting the post and a Leigh Halfpenny attempt did the same, ultimately leading to the game’s first score.

Scarlets reacted quickly as the ball bounced back off the upright and after a couple of phases Rhys Patchell bounced through a tackle a slid over the line.

The Welsh fullback added another three points from the boot and Glasgow were unable to convert a dangerous attack as the half time siren sounded.

Warriors were brighter in the early exchanges of the second period, Oli Kebble and Peter Horne both introduced at the break.

Horne got his side on the board after five minutes narrowing the defecit and his side looked more confident with every attack, captain Ryan Wilson leading from the front with a marauding run through midfield.

However, their energy was sapped in the space of five minutes. Two Halfpenny penalties either side of a Gareth Davies intercept try gave the home side a sixteen-point lead.

Henry Pyrgos added a sense of urgency off the bench and scored shortly after taking the field, collecting a Peter Horne offload to give the Warriors hope.

Scarlets dominated the final exchanges, seeing out the game expertly before rounding of their win with a third score, Patchell again punishing the visitors.

Glasgow’s attention now turns to next Friday and Connacht and although they may have already secured top of the conference by then they’ll certainly be eager to return to winning ways in front of their home fans.
