Disappointment at Murrayfield

Earlston High School beat Kelvinside Academy, 39-12, to lift the @brewindolphin U18 Scottish Schools Plate.

Earlston High School and Hawick High School were crowned as Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Plate winners at under-18 and under-16 respectively, tonight, on the back-pitches of BT Murrayfield.

In the under-18 final, Earlston recorded a 39-12 victory over their west-coast opponent’s Kelvinside Academy, to lift the senior Plate.

Head coach, and PE teacher at the school, Malcolm Changleng, said: “We’re delighted to have come here to BT Murrayfield and come away with silverware.

“Tonight was as good as we’ve played all season, and we couldn’t ask for any more for a final performance.

“Kelvinside were worthy opponents but credit to our boys, especially our back-row who were outstanding, we managed to stop them getting into the game.”

Back-row Stuart Allison and centre Ewan Runciman grabbed two tries each for the Borders’ school with number eight Ruari Campbell, stand-off Robbie Chalmers and replacement Tom Middlemiss also crossing the whitewash.

Chalmers converted two of the tries.

Kelvinside Academy scored two tries of their own through hooker Paul Cairncross and wing Michael McDonagh – captain Lewis Trainer adding the extras to one of the scores.
