Now GHK but once Kelvinside West

During the dark days of WW2 Churchill exorted the nation thus "we shall fight in the fields and in the streets" sadly for West when peace resumed they were out on the streets having been evicted from Hamilton Crescent their home of eighty years by the Cricket Club

This led to an amalgamation with Kelvinside Accies that lasted to 1951 playing out of Balgray as Kelvinside West
The relationship with Kelvinside extended to more recent times when the two clubs sometimes shared Kelvinside's facilities at Auchenhowie now Murray Park Rangers training ground

The relationship between West and the High of GHK also goes back a long way as the first caps won by former Glasgow High School pupils were won in the colours of West such as Henry Napier prior to the formation of Glasgow HSFP in 1883

When West eventually settled in MILNGAVIE after nearly a decade of nomadic existence their first opponents on 17th September 1960 were Glasgow HSFP in recognition of support they had been given by that club during their homeless period with the use of Old ANNIESLAND
The match was played on the roadside pitch now Waitrose with posts donated by a Glasgow Accie Jimmy Forrest
The honour of scoring the first try on the new ground touching down near where Waitrose checkout now stands fell to Percy Friebe now 55 years on the GHK Hon President who will retrace these steps on Saturday when West host GHK at Burnbrae in a derby league match
