The downside to the successful weekend of European action was the injury to Grant Gilchrist, the Edinburgh Rugby lock whom Vern Cotter had announced last week as captain for the viagogo Autumn Tests.

Gilchrist fractured his forearm in the win against Lyon and has been replaced in the second row by Jim Hamilton. Another Scotland player injured at the weekend was centre Alex Dunbar and Warriors centre Peter Horne has been brought in as precautionary cover. One other player has been called up to the squad – Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, the Edinburgh Rugby scrum-half, also called up as a precuation, this time for Chris Cusiter who missed Sales Sharks' match in the European Champions Cup at the weekend.
