Saturday sees Hawks final pre season match when they host Belfast Harlequins at Old Anniesland
Quins like Hawks are a fairly recent amalgamation of two great old clubs namely North of Ireland and Collegians
Although Hawks have travelled in recent times to play Quins at Deramore Park the match has its roots in the early days of the sport back in the 1873 when one of our founder clubs Glasgow Accies travelled to Belfast to play North of Ireland
This tradition was carried on by both Glasgow HSFP and Accies with regular matches against Instonians with Accies being one of the first clubs to play at Ravenhill in a match billed as Champions of Ulster v Scottish Champions

Hawks have benefited greatly over the years from the contribution of Irish players such as Tim Thompson ,Mike Rainey,Glenn Telford ,Wes Henry ,Chris Bruce,Stephen Leckey ,Paul Henderson ,Brendan Cullinane ,James Gormley Rory Hamilton and Andy Linton
