Saturday sees Hawks open their League campaign with a visit to Goldenacre to face HERIOTS
Matches between Hawks and Heriots have long produced entertaining contests
HERIOTS have always been an attraction to the extent that at one time crowds of 10,000 would turnup to see them play Glasgow HSFP and Glasgow Accies with special supporters trains being run from Edinburgh
On one occasion in 1925-26 season the match between HERIOTS and Glasgow Accies at Goldenacre was transferred to the then international ground at Inverleith to accommodate the estimated crowd of 18,000 which stood as a Club attendance record until the Scottish Cup Final days of the 1990s
Goldenacre was also used as a location for filming that sports epic Chariots of Fire depicting the life of the legendary Eric Liddell who combined playing on the wing for Scotland with winning an Olympic Gold over 400m
Saturdays chariots KO at 3.00 pm
Both Hawks 1sts and 2nds are in action at Goldenacre
