The squad will assemble for training sessions throughout February to prepare for the match which will see the Scottish Students rugby programme back on the rugby fixture list for the first time in a number of seasons. Players have been selected from Scotland’s top performing student teams with a specific criteria being put in place by the management team. Students from University of St Andrews, University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde, and University of Aberdeen make up the 29 man squad.

Ben Philip, SSS Sports Manager said: “SSS are delighted to be able to relaunch the Men’s Rugby National Squad after an absence of a number of years. To be able to take on the U19 national team is a great opportunity and our thanks go to Sean Lineen and Scottish Rugby for providing us with this chance. With a strong coaching and support staff, we are confident that this will be just the start of a successful and vibrant programme.”

Head Coach David Ross commented: “It is extremely pleasing to get the Scottish Students XV back up and running to reward the hard working and talented players in the student game in Scotland. Student rugby has been transformed over the past 6-7 years with the investment from numerous institutions in staff and facilities which is attracting better rugby players from all across the world. We have selected a squad within the criteria who we are confident in showcasing the very best of the student game and would like to thank Scottish Rugby for the opportunity to play such an important fixture in their National Age Grade programme against the U19s.”
