JoBurg to Durban

Hi,

Apologies if you have already received this from Graham Docherty:
On 12th October Graham Docherty and I are going out from Scotland to Johannesburg to join the Dads’ Charity Cycle from Johannesburg to Durban-a total of 668 kilometres in 5 days. You will be are aware that Johannesburg is at an altitude of 5,000 feet and Durban is at sea level. I am reliably informed that the effort required extends considerably more than accelerating hard for a few hundred yards and freewheeling the rest of the way.

This event has been going since 2005 and the purpose is to support various children’s charities in South Africa. In brief they support children who are deaf; children with Down’s syndrome; children with cancer; an employability initiative; a literacy programme and a specific education initiative for girls. There is morre detail in the attached brochure if you wish to have a closer look.)
We pay for all our own travel, food and accommodation with all donations going 100% to the various charities.

I would greatly appreciate if you would make a small donation the event in support of these charities. You can give me cash or advise you will give me a specific sum next time you see me, or make a bank transfer. As we are raising funds jointly I attach Graeme's bank details below (he is an accountant and apparently that makes him more likely to get the sums right!).
We will not be bombarded with irritating pictures and hour by hour commentary on what a fantastic experience we are having. I promise to restrict it to one email advising that I have succeeded, or failed!, and in thanking you for your help, advise of the total sum collected by us.

(It would help if you put “SA cycle” in the reference box).

Regards,

Ken Hamilton.
