1st XV Squad for BT Cup Semi Final Old Anniesland, Saturday 7th March, 3.30pm ko.

We must focus on doing the basics of the game well and putting in a performance in order to win on Saturday
- Peter Laverie

There is a familiar look to the team which sees the experienced Ally Maclay come on to the bench and Robbie Houliston earns his return to the squad. Neil Herron comes in on the wing and George Horne returns at stand-off following his impressive displays with the U20s. Selection has been difficult this week with so many of our players desperate to get in and a lot of effort at training.

Boroughmuir were our last opponents and they pipped us at the post with a last minute kick to claim the points in the league match. Our players are very keen to get their own back in what is a major game for both clubs and the splendid prize of a final place on the international pitch at BT Murrayfield in April. Our training sessions have been very competitive and intense over the last ten days with everyone desperate to put their hands up for selection and there is no doubt in the coaches' minds that our lot are up for it. The adage that: 'no one remembers a losing semi-finalist,' is very true so we must focus on doing the basics of the game well and putting in a performance in order to win on Saturday. Boroughmuir will be up for it too, naturally, and it could be a real cracker to watch.
