Scotland cap Alex Allan’s words of wisdom helped Namibian international Tjiuee Uanivi seal a move to London Scottish.

The 26-year-old, who can play either second-row or flanker, joined Glasgow last season, but a number of injuries and the form of other players limited his game time. He also played a few times for Glasgow Hawks in the BT Premiership.

Now he has moved south to the Greene King IPA English Championship and is looking to make a big impact at the Athletic Ground.

And Director of Dave Morris is thrilled to add some international quality to the squad, admitting Uanivi’s for team mate helped his research on the player.

“We are delighted to welcome Tjiuee to London Scottish. Having been part of Glasgow Warriors squad last season I’m sure Tjiuee has a warmth for Scotland and its people,” Morris said.

“I spoke at length to his Glasgow Warriors team mate Alex Allan -whom I coached at Loughborough University – and liked what I heard about him as a player and a person.

“This was backed up watching his footage. He will bring tremendous athleticism to the second-row which will really show in the lineout and around the field. He will arrive battle hardened after playing international rugby for Namibia over the summer.”

“Really looking forward to it”

“I’m really looking forward to heading to London and linking up with London Scottish ahead of the new season. The new coaches are ambitious and the squad looks strong, so I’m excited to test myself in the Championship because it seems to get more competitive each year.

“I thank the club for this opportunity and hope I can bring new qualities to help the team be successful.”
