With Warriors pitching up at historic Hamilton Crescent courtesy of McCrea Financial Services for cricket it revisits a long and enduring relationship with both the sport and the venue

Hamilton Crescent was home to Glasgow for their annual tussle with Edinburgh from 1873 to 1922 with the exception of 1885 when they played Edinburgh at Hampden Park

Glasgow's relationship with cricket goes back a year earlier 1872 when the outstanding cricketer Tom Chalmers of Glasgow Accies and West of Scotland played in the first ever Inter City at Burnbank on 23rd November hence the Cup named after this occasion
Tom was a remarkable all rounder as he trialed in goal for Scotland for the first ever Soccer international against England to be held a week later on 30th November 1872 again at Hamilton Crescent
Despite performing well in the trial he opted for the Inter City instead

Another outstanding West of Scotland Cricketer who played rugby for Glasgow was J S Carrick who at one time held the world record for a first class innings when he scored 419 for West against English side Priory Park
Carrick went on to help found the IRB in 1886
