Midi rugby at Hawks is a big step up from the mini game.
If you're keen to learn and improve the key skills and maintain as high a level of personal fitness as you can you will love it at Hawks. You will meet new teammates as the mini rugby sections of GHK and Glasgow Accies join forces and are joined by a large number of boys from all schools across west central Scotland. This set-up is quite unique and it is a special team spirit which we are very proud of. We are keen to welcome complete beginners to the game who are fit, willing to work hard and contribute to a great team spirit.
S1 matches are played on a full sized pitch and 13 or 15 a side. There is inevitably more structure to the game than what players have been used to in the past, and the teamwork element becomes increasingly important. Led by a team of dedicated coaches, with assistance from Hawks DO Gary Strain and senior Hawks players, the boys will thrive in the environment we offer.
We handpick our own fixtures, complementing these with whole club training days at Old Anniesland, an approach we feel is the correct balance for the players.
We place a very large emphasis on physical fitness and will provide age appropriate Strength and Conditioning sessions on a Thursday night for all players from S1 onwards. As part of Hawks Player development programme we provide sessions on rugby nutrition and other areas of life as a rugby player.
