Lest we forget
As the Nation gathers this week to remember the 80th anniversary of VE Day we should as a Club also pause because Hawks have the singular privilege of playing on a pitch at Balgray that is integral to the Kelvinside Academy War Memorial Trust a distinction that’s was shared when we played on the pitches at both Old and New Anniesland which were also framed in a similar manner by the High School of Glasgow and the Glasgow Academy
If you have any doubt about the price paid just look at the names listed on the panels of the War Memorials of these three institutions

Not all could celebrate 80 years ago as the War of attrition continued in the Far East at places like Kohima and Imphal
