Summary

Scottish Rugby Union’s member clubs confirmed the appointment of Ed Crozier as the new President at their AGM today, Saturday 8th August.

Crozier, representing Cartha Queen’s Park club, will hold the role for the next 12 months after serving as Vice-President for the past year to departing President, Ian Rankin.

Stepping into the role as Vice-President is Rob Flockhart of Edinburgh’s Boroughmuir club who secured a majority of four votes over Ian Barr of Lasswade, who was also standing for the role.

He will serve a two-year term after the attending club representatives voted in favour of a motion proposed by Scottish Rugby’s own Governance Working Party to extend the President’s role by an additional year, starting from the 2016 AGM.

Other motions supported on the day included a vote to keep RBS 6 Nations home international matchday’s free of adult competitive rugby in a move designed to enable players to support Scotland fixtures at BT Murrayfield. However if both teams choose to play a match it can still go ahead.

A motion to delay the start of the new Youth & Schools programme proposed by Glasgow Hawks was not carried.

New President Ed Crozier also takes his place on the Scottish Rugby Board, in place of Ian Rankin.

Scottish Rugby Union Council member Jim Littlefair, of North Berwick RFC, was voted onto the Scottish Rugby Board by the Council. He joins fellow Council representatives on the Board Fergus Neil and Mike Munro.
